The challenge when choosing broadband is the Price vs Post conundrum…

Do we go on price and chose the cheapest?

But what would be the cost of that? The cheapest suppliers of broadband at this moment in time are often top of Ofcom’s most complained about providers.

Before making a decision purely on the monthly cost ask the following questions:

  • What is average time it takes your provider to fix a fault?
  • How much time do you waste calling for support?
  • What is the contention ratio of the line – i.e. how many are sharing it?
  • How much down time/network outages, have you had in past year?
  • What router is supplied? Cheaper routers can being hacked or compromised. If a provider is offering “too good to be true” broadband plus a free router, remember the adage…

…“You Get What You Pay For”!

What network is it on? Not the company who is selling you the broadband but the network their service is on, is it reliable, can you easily move to another provider for better service or price?
